DUSTIN RAY MOORE has been arrested. U.S. Marshals arrested Moore in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon on the MPD’s warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.
The Marshalltown Police Department is investigating a burglary incident involving city owned properties located in the 900 block of Woodland Street. The Marshalltown Sewer Division and the Marshalltown Compost Facility reported the burglary on Sunday, May 8. The burglary likely occurred during the overnight hours of Saturday, May 7 and the early morning hours of Sunday, May 8.
Multiple buildings were forcibly entered during this incident. It is believed multiple suspects were involved in this crime. Multiple city vehicles were damaged and city property was stolen from both city vehicles and city buildings. Extensive damage was done to city vehicles and buildings. The property damage is estimated to exceed $30,000.00. There are no suspects at this time. The investigation of this incident is on-going. Dustin Ray Moore, 31, is wanted by the MPD for failure to register as a sex offender - second offense. He is described as a white male, standing 5-feet-11-inches tall and weighing 172 pounds with brown hair (may be shaved) and blue eyes. Moore has multiple tattoos on both hands and arms, his neck and chest, and both shoulders. He moved to Marshalltown from Cerro Gordo County in mid-February and failed to notify the Marshall County Sheriff's Office of his change in residence, according to MPD Capt. Michael Hanken. Moore was originally convicted of third-degree unlawful sexual contact in 2004 in Delaware County.
